Denmark Prepares Law to Protect Citizens from AI Cloning of Appearance and Voice
Denmark is preparing a law to protect personal appearance and voice from AI cloning and deepfakes.

The Danish government is considering a law that would make Denmark the first country in Europe to automatically recognize a person’s appearance, physical traits, and voice as objects of copyright.
The draft law allows people to demand the removal of deepfakes, file lawsuits for compensation, and bans the creation of digital copies of performers using neural networks without their personal consent.
Denmark’s Minister of Culture emphasized that everyone has the right to control the use of their appearance and voice, but current legal norms lag behind the rapid development of generative technologies.
The bill is expected to be adopted this fall. Online platforms that violate the new requirements may face significant financial penalties.
