Annual Itzhak Buanish Memorial Bike Ride to Take Place on Route 60 in Judea

On Friday, May 15, 2026, the Judea region will host the traditional memorial bike ride from Kiryat Arba to Jerusalem. This event has been held annually since 2004, and this year marks its 23nd occurrence. The ride is dedicated to the memory of Itzhak Buanish, who fell in November 2002 while repelling a terrorist attack in Hebron.
The start is scheduled in Kiryat Arba. Participants will travel in an organized convoy heading north toward Jerusalem along the region’s main traffic artery, Route 60. The route passes through key sections, including the Elias and Karmei Tzur junctions and the Gush Etzion area, before finishing at the entrances to Jerusalem. The cyclists will be escorted by security forces and traffic police throughout the duration of the event.
In connection with the event, temporary traffic restrictions will be implemented on certain sections of Route 60. Road closures and traffic regulation are planned between 05:45 and 10:30. The road will be reopened in stages following the passage of the convoy and confirmation of traffic safety.
