Caroline Glick to Replace Ofir Akunis as Israel’s Consul General in New York
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to nominate his foreign affairs advisor, Caroline Glick, for the position of Consul General in New York. According to Channel 12 journalists, she is set to replace Ofir Akunis, whose diplomatic mission concludes in the coming weeks.
A native of the United States, Caroline Glick possesses a deep understanding of the American political system and mentality, a valuable asset for a diplomat. She joined the Prime Minister’s team in early 2025, where she has been actively involved in foreign policy matters. To officially assume the consul’s seat, she must undergo an approval process by the cabinet.
The diplomatic mission in New York plays a crucial role in maintaining ties with the largest Jewish community abroad. Glick’s supporters highlight her consistency and readiness to firmly defend Israel’s conservative interests in dialogues with American partners. She is known for her straightforward political stance: in the past, she has openly criticized liberal Jewish organizations for their views and has also reminded that the Palestinian national movement was artificially created.

If the coalition fails to retain power following the upcoming elections, the status of the Consul General could be reassessed in the autumn.
