Hebrew Book Week in Israel 2026: Fairs in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Workshops at Beit Avi Chai

The main book fairs will be held from June 10 to 18. In Tel Aviv, the festival venue will be Sarona Park, and in Jerusalem, the book stalls will be located at Safra Square

In June 2026, Israel will host the jubilee Hebrew Book Week, which will celebrate 100 years since its founding. One of the country’s most popular cultural festivals will once again gather literature lovers, writers, publishers, and families with children at book fairs and dozens of themed events.

The history of the festival began in 1926, when publisher Bracha Peli organized the first one-day book bazaar on Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv. Over the past century, the small initiative has turned into a national cultural event, annually attracting about 150,000 visitors.

The main book fairs will be held from June 10 to 18. In Tel Aviv, the festival venue will be Sarona Park, and in Jerusalem, the book stalls will be located at Safra Square. Visitors will be able to purchase books from leading Israeli publishers at special prices, discover new literary releases, and meet their favorite authors. Access to the main book stalls will be free.

In addition to traditional book sales, the organizers have prepared a rich program at the Beit Avi Chai cultural center. Admission to these events will be paid. Guests can expect lectures, autograph sessions, creative meetings, musical performances, and family events.

Special attention is given to the children’s audience: young visitors will be able to take part in workshops on restoring old and damaged books as part of the “Book Hospital” project. Plays, interactive performances, and meetings with famous Israeli writers and artists, including Eshkol Nevo, Jimbo J, Meira Barnea-Goldberg, and Maor Cohen, will also be held for the guests. The organizers note that Hebrew Book Week remains an important part of the cultural life of Israel and for a hundred years has contributed to the development of reading, the support of publishers, and the popularization of literature among new generations of readers.
