Conductor Omer Ein-Zvi Appointed First Kapellmeister of the Stuttgart State Opera

At 21, Israeli conductor Omer Ein-Zvi has secured the position of first Kapellmeister and assistant general music director of the Stuttgart State Opera.

Israeli conductor Omer Ein-Zvi has been appointed as the first Kapellmeister and assistant general music director of the Stuttgart State Opera. The musician will officially begin his work in September 2026 and will conduct productions of “The Magic Flute,” “Idomeneo,” and “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” in his debut season.

Traditionally, leadership positions in major European theaters go to conductors with decades of experience. However, the 21-year-old Israeli, who began studying conducting at twelve and founded a youth orchestra at sixteen, has shifted the usual practice. Combining his studies at the academies of Berlin and Vienna with work as an assistant in major productions allowed him to surpass more experienced candidates in a rigorous selection process.

Critics and the professional community recognize Ein-Zvi as a prominent figure in the new school of conducting. His recent performances with orchestras in Berlin, Munich, and Bern confirmed his readiness to lead large ensembles. The management of the Stuttgart Opera has established a new professional standard by entrusting a complex classical repertoire to a young specialist with a high level of training.
