Somaliland Opens Embassy in Jerusalem, Becoming the Eighth Country with a Diplomatic Mission in the City

The Republic of Somaliland officially started diplomatic operations in the Israeli capital. The new office became the eighth foreign embassy in Jerusalem.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Somaliland President Abdirahman Irro officially launched the African republic’s embassy in Jerusalem.  The new diplomatic office became the eighth foreign mission in the Israeli capital.

For many years, most countries placed their diplomatic missions outside Jerusalem. Now states are changing this approach. Somaliland’s choice to start embassy operations marks the third such event during the tenure of the current Israeli Foreign Minister.

The head of the Israeli foreign ministry called this step brave and highlighted the friendship between the citizens of both countries. Diplomats continue to work to strengthen the status of Jerusalem globally and promise more good news.
