Russian Political Emigré and Artist Semyon Skrepetsky Shot Dead in Poland

Prominent Russian artist and political emigrant Semyon Skrepetsky has been killed in the Polish city of Biała Podlaska. The news of the Russian national’s death was first reported by the Polish outlet Podlaski.info, and the assassination was later confirmed to the independent news outlet *ASTRA* by a friend of the artist. Polish law enforcement has not yet officially disclosed the victim’s name.
According to local police, the crime occurred around 10:00 AM on Queen Jadwiga Street, near a parking lot. The victim, a 44-year-old Russian citizen, was shot with a handgun and died from severe injuries. Biała Podlaska, the city where the murder took place, borders Belarus and is home to a refugee camp.
Following the attack, the perpetrator fled the scene. Local media reports suggest there may have been multiple attackers. According to preliminary data, law enforcement has already detained one individual suspected of being connected to the assailants. The arrest took place near the Belarusian consulate.
Semyon Skrepetsky (real name Robert Kuzovkov) gained widespread recognition for his satirical paintings and sharp caricatures of political figures, including Vladimir Putin, Ramzan Kadyrov, and Alexander Lukashenko. In 2021, the artist left Russia and emigrated to Poland, citing political persecution in his home country.
