Slovenian Embassy in Israel to Relocate to Jerusalem: Prime Minister Janez Janša Shifts Diplomatic Course

The Slovenian Embassy in Israel will relocate to Jerusalem following a decision by the new cabinet in Ljubljana. Prime Minister Janez Janša changed the country’s diplomatic trajectory and instructed officials to prepare the mission’s move from Tel Aviv.
For the past two years, bilateral relations experienced a deep crisis due to the actions of former Prime Minister Robert Golob, who recognized a Palestinian state and banned arms trade with the Israeli side. Previously, Slovenian authorities flew the PLO flag over government buildings and imposed sanctions against officials. Now, Ljubljana is lifting these restrictions and renewing its allied partnership.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported the Slovenian leader’s initiative and committed to opening the first-ever Israeli diplomatic mission in Ljubljana. Political experts note a new European standard: Central European countries are revising their Middle East strategy, recognizing the status of Jerusalem, and working together to ensure regional security.
