Audi A2 e-tron: New EV Specifications and Expected Pricing in Israel

The Audi A2 e-tron has officially been introduced as one of the German brand’s most affordable electric vehicles. Production of the compact model is being revived two decades after the original Audi A2 was discontinued. During its development, the company’s engineers paid particular attention to aerodynamics and energy efficiency.
The manufacturer will offer several powertrain options. The flagship version is equipped with a 326-horsepower electric motor, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Its maximum range on a single charge reaches 646 kilometers under the WLTP cycle.
Audi representatives describe the new model as the most energy-efficient production vehicle in the company’s history. Official energy consumption is rated at 12.8 kWh per 100 kilometers, while the body has a drag coefficient of 0.24.
Prices and Sales Launch in Israel
German dealers will begin selling the electric vehicle on September 10, 2026. The first customers are expected to receive their cars in December of the same year. Prices for the base version will start at €38,200, while the top-of-the-range version will cost €51,200.
The model is expected to arrive on the Israeli market in mid-2027. The Israeli importer has confirmed plans to bring the vehicle to the country, although official local pricing has not yet been announced. According to preliminary estimates, the base version could cost approximately 180,000 to 200,000 Israeli shekels.
The History of the Original Audi A2
The first-generation Audi A2 was produced from 1999 to 2005 and featured technological solutions that were highly unconventional for its time. It was the first mass-produced European five-door vehicle with an all-aluminum body built using Audi Space Frame (ASF) technology. The use of aluminum helped reduce the weight of the base version to less than 900 kilograms.
One of the most notable versions in the lineup was the A2 1.2 TDI. The vehicle consumed just 2.99 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers and had a drag coefficient of 0.25. However, the high cost of materials and the complexity of production resulted in a relatively high price for a compact-class vehicle.
Production of the model ended in 2005 after approximately 176,000 units had been manufactured. In developing the new A2 e-tron, Audi has once again focused on low weight and aerodynamic efficiency, adapting the original concept for the modern era of electric vehicles.
