Ancient City Linked to Joshua Found in Israel

Israeli archaeologists have made a sensational discovery: excavations near Tel Timna have uncovered artifacts confirming the existence of an ancient city believed to be the final resting place of the biblical figure Joshua (Yehoshua Bin Nun).
According to the Book of Joshua (Josh. 19:50, 24:30), the city of Timnath-Serah was given to Joshua after the conquest of Canaan. It was there, tradition holds, that he spent his final years and was buried. Until recently, the area saw little archaeological exploration, making its history largely mysterious.
What did the archaeologists find?
A large public mikveh, indicating the site’s religious importance
Pottery from multiple eras, pointing to long-term settlement
Animal bones, suggesting an agricultural lifestyle
Ancient coins, reflecting trade with surrounding regions
These findings align with biblical descriptions and strengthen the belief that Timnath-Serah truly existed as described in the Old Testament. The discovery sheds new light on life in ancient Israel and supports the historical basis of certain biblical narratives.
Excavations are ongoing, and experts hope to uncover more evidence linking the site to Joshua. The discovery has already drawn interest from historians and biblical scholars, as it may reshape understanding of ancient Israelite life.
