Businessman Sylvan Adams Makes Largest Donation in the History of Soroka Hospital

Renowned businessman and philanthropist Sylvan Adams has announced a donation of $100 million (approximately 325 million shekels) to restore Soroka Medical Center in Be’er-Sheva following a ballistic missile strike from Iran. This is the largest private donation in the hospital’s history.
The missile strike on Soroka occurred on June 19, 2025, causing significant damage to the infrastructure and disrupting the operations of key departments. In addition to Adams’ donation, the Israeli government is allocating approximately $111 million (360 million shekels) for the center’s restoration. Sylvan Adams described it as a “great honor” to be part of creating a state-of-the-art medical facility that will serve as a national asset for the Negev region and all of Israel.
Soroka Medical Center is the main medical hub in southern Israel, serving tens of thousands of patients annually. The restoration will enable the hospital to resume full operations of its key departments and modernize its infrastructure, which is particularly crucial after the damage caused by the missile strike. Adams’ donation underscores the importance of private philanthropy in supporting the resilience of the healthcare system and aiding regions affected by military actions.
