French sports retailer Decathlon to close its only Jerusalem store

Decathlon is shutting down its 3,500 sqm Jerusalem branch after less than three years of operation. The move follows similar downsizing efforts in Tel Aviv and Netanya.

The French sporting goods giant Decathlon has announced the closure of its sole branch in Jerusalem. The store is scheduled to cease operations on January 29, 2026.

The branch opened in April 2023 in the Talpiot neighborhood, covering approximately 3,500 square meters with an initial investment of about 10 million NIS. Since its opening, the store has become a popular destination for local sports enthusiasts and outdoor hikers

The decision is part of the company’s broader strategy to optimize its retail footprint across Israel. Previously, Decathlon reduced the size of its stores in Petah Tikva and Netanya and replaced its large Tel Aviv branch with a smaller format in the Azrieli Center. Following the closure of the Jerusalem location, the chain will operate 10 branches nationwide.
