Cardinal Pizzaballa: Easter will not be canceled; ceremonies to be held with restrictions

The parties reached an agreement that traditional church ceremonies will not be canceled this year.

Earlier today, a meeting was held between the police leadership and the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, to discuss the arrangements for Easter celebrations. Following the talks, both parties reached an agreement that traditional church ceremonies will not be canceled this year, but will instead be held in a strictly symbolic and limited format.

During the conversation, the Cardinal specifically noted the professional work of the law enforcement forces in the Old City. He emphasized that even when he was denied access, the police officers communicated with him politely and correctly. At the conclusion of the meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect, Cardinal Pizzaballa took a commemorative photo with the officers.
