Marina Delta Lagoons Resort in Egypt Sparks Heated Debate in Arab Media

A new resort in northern Egypt, Marina Delta Lagoons, built in the shape of a menorah, has sparked strong reactions and heated debates in Arab media.

In northern Egypt, in the Nile Delta region, a new resort complex named Marina Delta Lagoons has been built.
Its architectural plan is designed in the shape of the Jewish symbol — the menorah.

The unusual design immediately drew attention and sparked a wave of discussions in Arab media and on social networks.

According to reports, the resort was envisioned as a modern tourism project, but its form was quickly interpreted by many observers as a “hidden political message” or even a “gesture of friendship toward Israel,” leading to heated controversy.

Some sources suggest that the developers may have intentionally used Jewish symbolism in order to attract Israeli tourists. Others argue that the choice of design was purely aesthetic and carries no political meaning.

Photos and satellite images of the resort, widely shared online, indeed resemble the shape of a classic seven-branched menorah.
So far, Egyptian authorities have not issued any official comments.
