Haifa to Renovate Around 700 Abandoned Buildings

Haifa’s city council has identified approximately 700 vacant and abandoned buildings scattered throughout the city. To address this growing issue, a special task force has been formed to monitor the condition of these properties, enforce relevant regulations, and develop new legal measures.

According to municipal officials, the abandoned buildings damage the cityscape, pose risks to residents, and contribute to the decline of entire neighborhoods. As part of the new initiative, some of the properties will be offered to investors for renovation and reoccupation. Legal actions, including fines and vacancy taxation, will be taken against uncooperative property owners.
This renovation project is part of a broader urban renewal program aimed at improving Haifa’s living environment and tackling the city’s housing crisis.
