Strike at Bank Hapoalim: Nearly All Branches and Call Centers Closed

A strike has paralyzed Bank Hapoalim: thousands of employees are protesting layoffs and worsening work conditions, leading to service disruptions for customers.

Today, Bank Hapoalim is facing a major shutdown: nearly all of its *180 branches* nationwide, along with all call centers, are non-operational. Approximately 8,000 employees have launched a one-day warning strike to protest against management’s policies.

Staff are outraged that the bank, despite reporting high profits, is unilaterally implementing measures such as cutting around 770 positions and forcibly transferring employees to other departments. They argue these actions worsen working conditions and limit career advancement opportunities.

Employee representatives state that negotiations with management have reached a deadlock, as the bank refuses to withdraw these measures.

As a result, thousands of clients cannot conduct their regular banking transactions today. Bank Hapoalim’s management announced the bank would operate in an “limited mode” – whatever that entails when the doors are closed.
