IDF Draft 2025: Who Will Be Called Up and What Awaits Draft Dodgers

IDF intensifies fight against draft evasion with mass call-up and new measures in 2025.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is drastically ramping up its conscription efforts: by the end of July, all 54,000 draft notices are expected to be sent out, including to those who have so far avoided service. Additionally, in cooperation with the police, the army will start installing checkpoints and conducting checks to identify “draft dodgers.”

This decision comes amid rising internal tensions in Israel over unequal distribution of military service, especially in light of legal debates surrounding the conscription of ultra-Orthodox Jews. The IDF stresses that these measures are aimed not only at strengthening combat readiness, but also at restoring public trust in the universal draft system.

The mass mailing of draft notices will be the largest since the start of the year. Those who receive draft notices but fail to report on time may face restrictions, including driving bans, travel limitations, and loss of government benefits.
