The Israel Medical Association (IMA) has officially approved strict guidelines for the use of neural networks in clinics. The core principle of the document is the *sole responsibility of the physician* for any medical decisions. Artificial Intelligence now holds the status of an exclusively auxiliary service, and medics are categorically prohibited from relying entirely on algorithmic conclusions without personal verification.
Over the past two years, AI has become deeply integrated into the country’s healthcare system: programs analyze scans, calculate radiation doses, and predict pathologies. However, the new standards mandate that doctors maintain maximum transparency. Patients must be notified of the neural network’s involvement, and specialists are required to explain the logic of the computer analysis in simple terms before treatment begins.
Particular attention is paid to data security: transferring personal information to algorithms for commercial use without the individual’s consent is now under an absolute ban. To prevent the erosion of professional skills, the association has mandated that clinics appoint individuals responsible for competency oversight. Doctors must regularly recertify their qualifications to ensure they can diagnose diseases independently, rather than becoming tech-dependent operators.
The reform is designed to maintain a balance between progress and safety. The system aims to avoid a scenario where a licensed physician is unable to interpret an X-ray during a technical glitch or server outage.
