Israel Railways Launches High-Speed Tel Aviv–Haifa Line: Only 30 Minutes Travel Time

A new high-speed rail will link Tel Aviv and Haifa in just 30 minutes.

Israel Railways proudly announces the launch of the largest infrastructure project in its history — the construction of a high-speed rail line between Tel Aviv and Haifa. The new route will allow passengers to travel between Israel’s two largest cities in just 30 minutes.

The project, approved by Israel’s Ministry of Transport, marks a key stage in the development of a national high-speed network designed to connect Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, and Be’er Sheva into one integrated transportation system.

Project Features:

  • Maximum speed: up to 250 km/h
  • New travel time: ~30 minutes
  • Peak frequency: up to 14 trains per hour
  • Total stations: up to 11
  • Investment volume: 12–15 billion shekels (approximately $3.8–4 billion USD)
  • Completion deadline: by the end of 2029

The project includes doubling the existing coastal line, building two additional tracks, upgrading signaling systems, and introducing innovative technologies to improve safety and passenger comfort.

Statement from Israel Railways:
“We are not just building a railway — we are building the future. This project will bring Israel closer, make it more mobile and environmentally friendly. We are proud to move the country forward.”

The new line will provide millions of passengers with convenient, fast, and sustainable transport, reduce road congestion, and open new economic and social opportunities for regions along the route.

Let us recall that a new project for the construction of the Khan railway station is also starting in Jerusalem. This infrastructure development will be an important step in the evolution of the city’s transportation system and will provide residents and visitors of the capital with even more convenient routes.
