Isaac Asimov — The Best-Selling Jewish Author of All Time

Isaac Asimov — author of over 500 books, creator of Foundation and I, Robot, the best-selling Jewish writer in history.

According to international publishing rankings and literary catalogs, American writer Isaac Asimov is recognized as the best-selling Jewish author in history. His books, translated into more than 40 languages, have sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, and his ideas continue to influence generations — from science fiction to the philosophy of artificial intelligence.

Born in 1920 in the Smolensk region of Russia and later emigrating with his family to the United States, Asimov became one of the founders of the Golden Age of Science Fiction. His work combines rigorous scientific logic with humanistic imagination. Over his lifetime, Asimov wrote more than 500 books — from classic novels to popular science essays covering physics, history, chemistry, astronomy, and literature.

He achieved global fame with his landmark series “Foundation” and “I, Robot.” These works not only defined the standards of the genre but also anticipated today’s ethical debates surrounding artificial intelligence. Expressions such as “The Three Laws of Robotics” have become a permanent part of the 20th-century cultural lexicon.

Despite his academic background in biochemistry, Asimov always considered his true mission to be the popularization of science and culture. His clear, logical, and often witty style made complex ideas accessible to millions of readers.

Today, Asimov’s name stands alongside such literary giants as Arthur C. Clarke and Ray Bradbury, and his books continue to inspire generations of scientists, engineers, and writers around the world.
