Bus Strike in Israel on June 4, 2026: Disruptions on Superbus and Electra Afikim Routes

On Thursday, June 4, residents of Israel will face serious disruptions to public transportation due to a large-scale warning strike. The drivers’ union has announced that during the morning rush hours, from 05:00 to 08:00, employees of major bus companies Superbus and Electra Afikim will suspend passenger service, affecting thousands of people commuting to work and school.
The cause of the strike is a prolonged labor dispute. According to the union, employees have not been paid their wages in full, and bonuses for working in high-risk conditions during recent military operations have been withheld. Representatives of the striking workers emphasize that the transport companies have already received the corresponding financial compensation from the state, but these funds have never reached the drivers themselves.
The temporary halt in service will affect key regions of the country. In Jerusalem and its surrounding areas, including Ma’ale Adumim and Gush Etzion, traffic on the routes of both companies will partially come to a standstill. In northern Israel, the strike will paralyze the “Metronit” bus rapid transit system in Haifa, as well as disrupt the schedules of local routes in Afula, Tiberias, Yokneam, and several other municipalities.
Passengers are strongly advised to plan alternative routes in advance for Thursday morning. The union committee warns that if the workers’ financial demands are not met, a second, significantly longer strike could take place across the country as early as next week.
