Israel Prepares New Lunar Mission “Beresheet-2”

Israeli nonprofit organization SpaceIL has announced the upcoming lunar mission “Beresheet-2,” scheduled for launch in 2025. Unlike the first Beresheet mission, which ended in a crash landing, this new mission will be groundbreaking: it includes one orbiter and two landers, making it the first in history to attempt a dual landing on the Moon.

The mission aims to explore the lunar surface and maintain a long-term presence in orbit — up to five years. The project also involves the U.S.-based company Firefly Aerospace, which will provide the launch vehicle.
Beyond its scientific objectives, Beresheet-2 strengthens Israel’s presence in space and promotes educational initiatives by inspiring Israeli youth to pursue careers in science and engineering.
