Michael Itzhakov Opens Israeli Pavilion at FITUR 2026 in Madrid

This year’s FITUR exhibition brought together representatives from over 160 countries and more than 10,000 companies.

Michael Itzhakov, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, officially inaugurated Israel’s national pavilion at FITUR 2026, one of the world’s largest tourism trade fairs, held in Madrid from January 21 to 25.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Michael Itzhakov alongside Dana Erlich, Israel’s Chargé d’Affaires in Spain, and Dolores Pérez, Director of the Israel Government Tourism Office in Spain. Approximately 30 Israeli tourism companies are showcased at Stand 4C05 in Pavilion 4.

“We hope that 2026 will be the year of a true recovery for Israeli tourism after the difficult challenges of recent years,” Michael Itzhakov noted in his opening remarks. The Israeli delegation is presenting a wide range of travel sectors—from historical and religious tourism to cutting-edge technological solutions for travelers.

This year’s FITUR exhibition has brought together representatives from over 160 countries and more than 10,000 companies. The Israeli pavilion traditionally draws significant interest from industry professionals, despite public debates and isolated protest actions related to the political situation in the region.

Organizers of the Israeli exhibit emphasize that participation in FITUR is a vital opportunity to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage and new tourism products aimed at revitalizing inbound travel.
