Israel Tourism: UK Lifts Travel Warning, Sparking Surge in Summer Bookings
The decision, announced in early June 2026, ends a nearly year-long “do not travel” advisory that had been in place since the summer of 2025 due to the conflict with Iran. Most of Israel is now considered relatively safe for British travelers, although restrictions remain in place for Gaza, border areas, the northern region, the Golan Heights, and parts of the West Bank.
The lifting of the ban has already led to a sharp increase in holiday bookings from the UK. Many travelers who had postponed trips due to insurance issues and government advice are now confirming their summer plans.
The Israeli Ministry of Tourism is projecting 2 to 3 million international visitors by the end of 2026, assuming regional stability continues. This would mark a significant recovery from the 1.3 million visitors recorded in 2025. The hospitality sector is responding with expanded hotel capacity, new infrastructure projects, and additional flight routes.
