Israeli Startup Uses AI to Cut Flight Delays by Up to 50%

Israeli startup IntellAct, founded in 2017, has developed an AI-powered middleware solution designed to help airports, airlines, and ground service teams optimize gate operations. The system delivers real-time insights into gate activity, allowing for smarter, data-driven decisions and eliminating the need for manual reporting.
This innovative technology has the potential to reduce flight delays by up to 50%, significantly improving global air travel efficiency. In 2023, the average flight departure delay was 17.8 minutes, costing the industry an estimated $68 billion worldwide. Flight delays cause not only massive financial losses but also frustration and disruption for passengers and airport staff.
IntellAct’s system integrates with existing airport surveillance infrastructure through AI-based video analytics software, enabling continuous real-time monitoring of runway and gate operations. It detects bottlenecks and triggers alerts to optimize departure timing.
The system has already been successfully tested at Ben Gurion Airport in collaboration with El Al Airlines, demonstrating its impact and scalability.
