Jerusalem’s Municipal Finance Committee has approved the city’s development budget for 2026 in the amount of NIS 6.2 billion, with priority given to education and infrastructure projects.

Jerusalem’s Municipal Finance Committee has approved the city’s development budget for 2026 in the amount of NIS 6.2 billion. The decision was made at a committee meeting chaired by Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor Tzvika Cohen.

The approved development budget (Development Budget – Takbir) is intended to finance infrastructure projects, the education system, and other key areas of urban development. The approved amount is among the largest development budgets allocated to the city in recent years.

Tzvika Cohen said the budget is of strategic importance for Jerusalem’s future, noting that the municipality is placing a strong emphasis on investments in education and urban infrastructure as the main drivers of the capital’s development.

Projects funded under the budget are expected to include transportation initiatives, modernization of school and public buildings, and improvements to the urban environment. Further details on the allocation of funds and the list of specific projects will be published following the completion of municipal approval procedures.
