New Support Center for Young Olim and IDF Reservists Opens in Jerusalem

A new complex dedicated to supporting “olim” (new immigrants) serving in IDF reserve duty (“miluim”) has officially opened its doors on Raoul Wallenberg Street in the capital. Designed to accelerate their integration into Israeli society, this joint initiative was spearheaded by the Jerusalem Municipality in partnership with the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, The Jewish Agency for Israel, Qualita, and Nefesh B’Nefesh.

The program offers a comprehensive solution to everyday logistical challenges by providing modern residential apartments or rent subsidies, intensive Hebrew language courses (“ulpan”), and full mentorship throughout all stages of absorption and employment. The primary goal is to allow these young adults to focus on their military service and civilian career building, unburdened by daily struggles.

The center has the capacity to house up to 130 individuals simultaneously and expects to support approximately 250 participants annually. Such initiatives have become a crucial pillar in the strategic effort to assist new citizens who stepped up to defend Israel in the wake of October 7, 2023.

The project is intended for immigrants who arrived in Israel within the last three to five years. Priority for housing is given to lone soldiers and reservists without immediate family in the country. Admission decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, tailored to each applicant’s specific needs. Standard application requirements include a teudat oleh (immigrant certificate), proof of IDF service, and marital status documentation.

Prospective participants can apply through multiple channels. Applications may be submitted directly via the Nefesh B’Nefesh or Qualita websites and hotlines. Alternatively, candidates can contact the Jerusalem regional branch of the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration by calling *2994, visit a Ministry office in person, or submit a request through their personal absorption counselor.
