Chess Lessons Begin in Jerusalem Kindergartens

JERUSALEM—A unique educational program called “Yeru-Chess” is set to launch this new school year in dozens of Jerusalem kindergartens, with the goal of teaching children the game from an early age.
The project was initiated with the support of the city’s municipality and Mayor Moshe Lion himself. According to him, chess is a powerful tool for developing strategic thinking, concentration, and decision-making skills.
As part of the program, teachers will receive special training to integrate the game into the curriculum. Kindergartens will be equipped with customized chess sets, large floor boards, and themed corners. Lessons will be taught in a playful format, making chess an engaging activity even for the youngest students.
The project’s organizers are confident that “Yeru-Chess” will help children develop logical thinking, patience, and social skills, marking an important step towards innovative education in Israel’s capital.
