Jerusalem Marathon May Be Postponed Due to Security Situation

Due to the current security situation, organizers are considering the possibility of moving the event to a different date.

The large-scale sporting celebration, scheduled for March 27, is highly likely to be delayed. Due to the current security climate, organizers are considering rescheduling the event to a different date to ensure the full protection of all attendees.

To date, a record number of participants have registered for the marathon—approximately 45,000 runners. This figure includes both professional athletes and amateurs, many of whom planned to travel to Jerusalem from abroad. Such a high concentration of participants requires unprecedented control measures, which are extremely difficult to implement under current conditions.

A final decision and the new race date are expected to be announced by municipal authorities in the coming days, following consultations with security forces. Organizers emphasize that the life and health of citizens remain the priority; therefore, the postponement is a forced but necessary measure. All participant registration data will be preserved until the official confirmation of the event’s timing.
