Santa Claus of Jerusalem: Issa Kassisi Opens the Doors of His Home Again

Meet Issa Kassisi – an Arab-Christian, former basketball player, and the only certified Santa Claus in Israel. For 20 years in a row, he has donned the red suit and appeared in Jerusalem, bringing Christmas cheer to the city.

In December 2024, despite the war, Issa rode a camel through the narrow streets of the Old City, gave gifts to children, visited schools and hospitals, and reminded everyone of the importance of hope, love, and peace.

He transformed the ground floor of his 700-year-old home into a true “Santa House” – complete with a sleigh, a toy workshop, and treats. The place is open to everyone, regardless of their faith.

This year, Issa continues the tradition and once again invites guests to his home.
