Trains to Jerusalem: New Boarding Rules for Passover 2026 Holidays

During the upcoming Passover holidays, the Israel Police is introducing restrictions on the number of passengers on trains operating on the Jerusalem line in both directions. Due to the complex infrastructure of the route, no more than 1,200 people will be allowed on each run.
This measure will be in effect on Friday, April 3, Sunday, April 5, and Monday, April 6.
The decision to limit passenger traffic is related to the specific operational characteristics of this route. Since a significant part of the journey passes through long underground tunnels, the most thorough preparation for any possible emergency situations is required.
Control over the number of people in the carriages will be carried out through the issuance of special travel vouchers, which passengers will need to have with them in addition to a valid ticket.
Such a voucher will serve as confirmation of the right to board a specific train on the specified days, ensuring that the established capacity of the train is not exceeded. The issuance of boarding passes will begin on Wednesday, April 1.
They can be issued through the official website of Israel Railways (rail.co.il) or via the “Israel Railways” mobile application.
