Michael Yitzhakov has been appointed Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Tourism

On July 8, 2025, the Israeli government officially announced the appointment of Michael Yitzhakov as the new Director General of the Ministry of Tourism.
The 37-year-old Yitzhakov, who resides in Netanya, holds degrees in economics and law. Since 2023, he has served as chief of staff to the Minister of Tourism, overseeing major national projects.

One of Yitzhakov’s key achievements was his leadership of the national evacuation accommodation program, under which 90,000 people were temporarily housed in hotels during a national crisis.
He also contributed to the development of accelerated hotel infrastructure mechanisms and legislative initiatives to support the tourism sector.

Tourism Minister Haim Katz expressed confidence that the new director has the expertise and knowledge required to implement state policy and elevate the industry, especially during the unprecedented crisis the sector is experiencing.

Michael Yitzhakov emphasized that tourism is a major economic driver and a source of livelihood for tens of thousands of Israeli families.
According to him, the main task is to provide the sector with all the necessary tools for a new stage of development.

The new director’s priorities include tourism recovery, the development of hotel infrastructure, strengthening international cooperation, and supporting small businesses in the hospitality sector.
Yitzhakov’s appointment is a strategic step aimed at the recovery and modernization of Israeli tourism and gives the industry hope for a rapid return to sustainable growth.
