Poland officially returns sacred Jewish objects to Greece stolen by Nazis during the Holocaust
The handover ceremony took place in Warsaw, and the items are now being sent to the Jewish Museum of Greece in Athens

Poland has handed over 91 ritual Jewish artifacts to Greece, which were stolen by German occupiers from synagogues in Greece during World War II and kept in Poland after the war. Among the returned objects are a Torah cover and silver rimonim (decorative scroll ornaments).
The handover ceremony took place in Warsaw, and the items are now being sent to the Jewish Museum of Greece in Athens. This marks the first time Poland has returned cultural property illegally removed from another country based on current restitution law.
Greece filed an official request for the return of the collection in December 2024, and the process was organized with the support of the World Jewish Restitution Organization and the relevant ministries.
