Shin Bet Chief David Zini Cancels Budget for Employees’ LGBT Forum

Shin Bet head David Zini initiated an agency reorganization and canceled internal corporate events dedicated to Pride Month. The leadership eliminated the budget for the employees’ LGBT cell and returned these funds to the organization’s general treasury to support direct security operations. Channel 12 reporter Yaron Avraham noted that the agency’s upper echelon also suspended preparations for a special annual internal lecture.
In previous years, the service supported specific social groups and allocated separate budgets to them. Now, Zini has completely revised this approach in favor of unifying internal resources. Official representatives of the agency emphasize their commitment to strict statutory norms: employees retain the right to organize lectures, but only in compliance with general procedures that now apply uniformly to all personnel without exception.
The new regulations provoked polarized reactions within Israel’s political circles. The opposition, led by Yair Lapid, strongly criticized the leadership’s actions. Meanwhile, conservative supporters in society welcomed Zini’s management decision. They point out that stepping away from social debates establishes a new standard for the secret service: the institution regains an absolute focus on its primary mission of protecting the state from external and internal threats.
