Jerusalem’s Old City Closed to Visitors: Access Restricted to Al-Aqsa, the Western Wall, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre

During the first Friday of Ramadan, approximately 80,000 people visited the compound, while on the second Friday, the number reached 100,000.

In accordance with current Home Front Command directives and increased security measures, access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque for worshippers has been significantly restricted this Friday. These measures are dictated by the current operational situation and the necessity of maintaining public order.

At this time, police have closed the gates of the Old City to members of all faiths, with the exception of local residents. Free passage through checkpoints is permitted only to individuals registered as residents of the Old City, members of the clergy, and municipal and emergency service employees.

It is worth noting that during the first Friday of Ramadan, approximately 80,000 people visited the compound, while on the second Friday, that number reached 100,000.
