Tesla in Israel: Ministry of Transport Approves FSD Autopilot Testing on Public Roads

The Ministry of Transport has officially approved the commencement of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology trials on the country's streets.

The Israel Ministry of Transport and Road Safety has granted Tesla permission to conduct autonomous driving system trials on the country’s public roads.

The testing involves Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology in a controlled environment: vehicles will operate using the autonomous system, but a licensed driver must remain behind the wheel at all times, ready to take manual control immediately if necessary.

The primary objective of this pilot program is to evaluate how autonomous vehicles handle Israel’s unique road infrastructure, including heavy traffic, complex intersections, and local driving patterns. The data collected will be used to shape future regulations and explore the potential expansion of such technologies.

The Ministry of Transport noted that this project is a key component of the national strategy to integrate transport innovation and enhance road safety.
