TikTok Introduces Night-Time Meditation Pause to Support Teen Mental Health

TikTok rolls out "Wind Down" feature to help teens disconnect from doomscrolling after 10 PM, offering meditation, music, and relaxation tools for better sleep.

TikTok has announced a new feature designed to promote digital well-being among teenagers and combat the growing problem of nighttime doomscrolling.

The initiative, developed by the platform owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance, targets users under the age of 16. The new tool, called “Wind Down”, will automatically activate after 10:00 PM, pausing the algorithmic “For You” feed and instead offering calming, mindful content.

Teen users will be encouraged to engage with short guided relaxation sessions that include breathing exercises, soothing music, and tranquil visual imagery to help them disconnect from digital overload and prepare for sleep.

The feature has been in limited testing since March and is now rolling out globally to all users under 18. Adults can also enable the feature manually via the app’s settings.
