Trump and Netanyahu Meet in Washington to Discuss Gaza Situation

Trump and Netanyahu discussed a ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza during their Washington meeting.

On Monday, July 7, U.S. President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.

The main focus of their talks was the U.S.-led mediation effort aimed at achieving a 60-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, including a possible hostage exchange.

President Trump announced plans to send a special envoy to Qatar, where negotiations between the conflicting parties are currently taking place.

During the meeting, Netanyahu presented Trump with an official letter nominating the U.S. president for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing Trump’s significant contributions to peace initiatives in the Middle East.

The visit was accompanied by protests from Palestinian supporters as well as critics of Netanyahu’s policies in both Israel and the United States.
