UK Launches Label for Books Written Without AI Involvement

A new certification, "Organic Literature," has appeared in the UK, confirming that a book was created by a human and not by an algorithm.

A new certification, “Organic Literature,” has been introduced in the UK to confirm that a book was created purely by a human – without the aid of artificial intelligence.

The project was initiated by the startup Books By People, which aims to “restore trust in human creativity” in an era when the book market is flooded with texts partially or entirely written by AI.

According to the organizers, the certification will only be granted to works where all literary content has been created by the author and not generated by algorithms. Only minimal use of AI is permitted—for example, for spell-checking or formatting.

Several well-known independent publishers have already joined the initiative, including Galley Beggar Press, Bluemoose Books, and Snowbooks. The first book to bear the new stamp will be the novel *Telenovela* by writer Gonzalo G. Garcia, set for release in November.

Checks will be conducted annually, and the cost of certification will depend on the publisher’s volume of publications. The organizers are confident that the new system will help readers distinguish between genuine human creativity and artificially generated content, especially amid the rise of AI-written books on platforms like Amazon.
