Ukrainian Telegram Channels Spread False Claim About “Israel’s Closure”

Ukrainian Telegram channels have been spreading false information alleging that Israel has “closed its borders.”
In reality, Israel has only temporarily reduced the number of outbound flights due to heightened security concerns following recent escalations with Iran. Ben Gurion Airport remains operational but under restricted conditions: small-capacity charter flights (up to 50 passengers) are prioritized for foreign nationals and humanitarian missions.

Some social media users have attempted to draw comparisons with Ukraine, where a legal travel ban on men aged 18–60 has been in place since 2022 as part of the military mobilization effort.
It is essential to distinguish between these two situations:
- In Israel, the limitation is technical and directly linked to airspace safety during a period of high tension.
- In Ukraine, the restriction is a legal ban aimed at retaining eligible conscripts inside the country.
Claims of a “complete travel ban” from Israel are false: while flights are limited, departure is possible under defined conditions.
