Israel’s Operation Against Iran Could Last Several Weeks

IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin told reporters that the IDF still has thousands of priority targets.

The active phase of the joint Israel-U.S. operation against Iran, which began in late February 2026, is estimated by military and official sources to last at least another 4–6 weeks. This means that hostilities are likely to span the Passover period (early April) and may continue beyond April 9.

IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin told reporters that the IDF still has thousands of priority targets, and operational plans are set at least until the holiday, with the possibility of extension in coordination with American allies.

At closed briefings within the Israeli security establishment, warnings were issued that the population should prepare to spend Independence Day (April 22) in shelters if the threat of rocket fire persists. Ministers were previously briefed on the existence of approved targets for at least a month and a half, confirming the protracted nature of the campaign.

Projections are linked to the necessity of fully neutralizing Iran’s missile potential and other strategic facilities, despite the successes already achieved.
