X introduces display of account registration country and history for transparency

Social network X has started rolling out a new feature called “About this account”, which allows users to see additional information about profiles. The update aims to increase transparency and combat fake accounts.
Now, a profile shows the country or region associated with the account, the history of username changes including the date of the last change, and the account registration date. Users can choose whether to display the exact country or only a general region. If a VPN or proxy is used, the platform may indicate that the shown location could be inaccurate.
According to the X team, the feature helps enhance account “authenticity,” allowing users to see who they are interacting with online. User reactions are mixed: some welcome the update, while others express privacy concerns.
