Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan Added to the Database of the Ukrainian Website “Myrotvorets”

Since 2022, prominent politicians, journalists, artists, and public figures have been regularly added to the database — not only Russian ones, but also Western (and even some Ukrainian) individuals, whose statements or actions the site's administration considers "pro-Russian" or "anti-Ukrainian."

The Ukrainian website “Myrotvorets” has added the chairman of the Israeli memorial complex Yad Vashem, Dani Dayan, to its database. The reason for this was the criticism from the memorial and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the recent reburial of OUN leader Andriy Melnyk, which took place in Ukraine with state honors.

Earlier, Yad Vashem, with the support of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a statement condemning the honoring of Melnyk. The document noted that the organization he led collaborated with Nazi Germany during the initial stages of World War II. The Israeli side called such events unacceptable, emphasizing that they insult the memory of Holocaust victims.

In response to the publication, the administration of “Myrotvorets” created a profile for Dani Dayan on its platform. The authors of the website accused the head of the memorial of deliberate actions inciting discord between Ukraine and Israel. Among the stated grievances are also humanitarian aggression, informational provocations, and the dissemination of Russian propaganda narratives. As evidence, screenshots of those very official statements by Yad Vashem and the Israeli foreign ministry are attached to Dayan’s profile.

Dani Dayan is a prominent Israeli diplomat and public figure who has been heading the Yad Vashem complex since 2021. The situation regarding his inclusion in the website’s lists reflects the ongoing disagreements between the countries in assessing historical events related to the actions of Ukrainian nationalists during World War II.
