Storm Byron brought rains and saved Israel’s crops from drought

While Storm “Byron” is causing significant inconvenience to residents of Israeli cities, triggering floods and strong winds, the mood in the country’s agricultural sector is entirely different. Farmers welcome the heavy rainfall as a long-awaited blessing after a prolonged drought.
Farmer Hadar Ezra reported that Storm “Byron” became a real salvation for agriculture: the rains are critically needed to revive the fields and secure a rich harvest. “We planted with hope, and now everything is beginning to flourish,” she said.
The year 2024 was officially declared a drought year, as the amount of precipitation was significantly below the long-term average for such vital crops as wheat, barley, clover, and alfalfa. Many farmers faced low yields, high irrigation costs, and multimillion-shekel losses.
